Goal: To better educate Skyloftians about magic and train them in its use if they have magical ability.
Personality: Intelligent, Well-Mannered, Focused, Patient, Stubborn, Somewhat Avoiding
Other: Though social and a teacher, Petrel prefers to be alone. He's fond of nighttime and enjoys the peace of it. He is the only magic user in his family. Petrel is rather laid-back as a person and can appear as though he doesn't care about things at times. Some days he hates his job because teenagers are a pain to deal with.

History:
     Petrel was the second born child in his family and is the middle child of three siblings. Out of his family, he was the only one to have magical talent and, as such, he was treated a bit differently. His siblings were jealous of him for a while so Petrel didn't have a good relationship with them until later in their lives. When he discovered his abilities, however, Petrel saw it as a gift from the Goddess Hylia. He was fascinated with it and spent a lot of his time studying and practicing with his magic. Petrel attended the Knight Academy solely for the educational portion, but he grew annoyed with the lack of magic knowledge in Skyloft. It was such a rare occurrence that they didn't bother with the topic, believing people could learn in Hyrule if they were that interested.

     As he attended the Academy, Petrel maintained high grades and would often travel down to Hyrule to learn more about magic. He was able to manage both and eventually graduated at the top of his class. Once graduated, Petrel started to travel to Hyrule more, having no more restrictions that tied him to Skyloft. His siblings started to travel with him at this point and they, in turn, became closer as family. Petrel's brother and sister started to better understand the gift he had and eventually started supporting him, now over the petty jealousy they once had towards him. Eventually they stopped journeying with him and started their own families. As the years passed, Petrel significantly improved his magical abilities and knowledge.

     When Petrel returned to Skyloft he'd decided to become an instructor at the Knight Academy so he could share his knowledge with the students. It was an ideal job and he enjoyed it, but Petrel soon found that being an instructor was a pain at the same time. The problematic students often tested his patience, but when they did go too far, he certainly would let them know through extra work among other things. Students were more compliant after seeing how he could get, but there's always those who don't get the hint. When he's not dealing with his job or students, Petrel is usually found relaxing alone, working on a new spell.
